Physical Activity

What is it?

Physical Activity is an essential aspect of wellness. Where nutrition is the fuel, physical activity and exercise is the spark.  Our body needs to release and create energy. Physical activity, proper nutrition, coupled with proper hygiene are the essential elements of physical wellness.

Why does it matter?

The Mayo Clinic identifies seven specific areas of benefit.

  • Exercise controls weight
  • Exercise combats health conditions and diseases
  • Exercise improves mood
  • Exercise boosts energy
  • Exercise promotes better sleep
  • Exercise puts the spark back into your sex life
  • Exercise can be fun … and social!

Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you haven't exercised for a long time, have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis, or you have any concerns.
